About Our Services

  • We always begin by meeting with parents to assess needs. From there, we review your child’s test scores, assessments, and school reports, and meet the child. Together we will identify target schools, and then review deadlines and procedures for tours, interviews, and applications, and help with scheduling school visits.

New York Admissions will work with your family to prepare for parent and student tours and interviews, and determine any additional needs to strengthen your child’s application. We’ll review your application essays, as well as tour and interview thank you notes.

As you move through the admissions process, New York Admissions is your liaison with the schools and will advocate for your child when necessary. We will help you determine your first-choice and top-choice schools, and then review your first-choice and top-choice letters.

    Finally—our favorite part—we’ll celebrate acceptances!

  • Founded by Dana Haddad, a former teacher and admissions director at Horace Mann School and Claremont Preparatory School, New York Admissions offers an insider’s perspective for families navigating the school admissions process.

Our success is in our numbers; we have a 100% admissions success rate, averaging four private school acceptances per child. Many of our clients return to us to place siblings or help get their children into their next school.

At New York Admissions, we have the knowledge, expertise, and competitive edge you need for private, public, boarding, and special needs school admissions.

  • As recognized leaders in school admissions consulting, we demystify the school admissions process and help families save time, reduce aggravation, and understand how to maximize their child’s chances of securing a top choice school.

Schools often receive an overwhelming number of applications, and our expertise will help your child stand out.

  • We work with children from 10 months to 18 years old applying to all grades, from nursery to high school, at entry point and non-entry point years.

  • New York Admissions works with families from around the world and close to home on private and public school admissions in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, as well as nationally and internationally.

  • We are always happy to review essays for former NYA families, but we do not specialize in the college admissions process.

About the Process

  • We typically begin working with families in the summer and fall, a year in advance of their child’s anticipated matriculation, until their child receives an acceptance—generally the following spring. However, school application schedules may vary so there is no exact timeframe, and we are there for you at any point in the process.

  • As early as possible. The earlier you start, the less stressed out you’ll be! We typically recommend starting over the summer a year before your child’s anticipated enrollment.

  • Call our office at (212) 532-3362 to get started. Our first step will be assessing your family’s needs. Together we will identify target schools and help your child prepare the best possible application.

  • For younger children, parents are quite involved in the process and will largely be communicating on behalf of their child. Parents will be required to write application essays and attend school tours.

As children get older, they become more involved in the admissions process, both in helping select schools and in completing application materials.

  • We will consider what makes the most sense for your family—progressive vs. traditional, single-sex vs. co-ed, religious vs. secular. From there, we will narrow down a list that aligns with your values and your lifestyle, and then your family can start getting to know individual schools to home in on your top choices.

  • We are happy to provide essay guidance at any stage in the essay writing process—from outline to final proofing—but it is your experience of your child and your child’s voice that will help your application shine.
